Restless II - I Hope You Dance.

The rendezvous up there doesn't have any negative connotation. It's only because many of the steps were very sensual and lovers-like.
The stage seemed rather small, but their performance was certainly big. Those rhythmic booms. Flashing disco lights. Flawless smiles radiating from each face. The outbursts of energy from within the (restless) souls. Don't these tell you much about the quality of the show?
I felt so attached to the show I began nodding my head in rhythm to the music even at the beginning. Along the way a few video clips were projected on the screen at the back. They feature the students during rehearsals, a few acted out scenes which are supposed to convey the message of a particular dance, and some others. (I didn't understand most of them)
Besides being rendezvously restless, the dancers demonstrated their versatility by putting up slower, softer dances, but they're the minority. One of them was danced to "You Raise Me Up", and was one of my favourite number. The interesting thing is that we almost got their costumes for syf. Actually both designs are very similar, just that one is red and the other purple.
The stage was like a radio and the performance was like a brand new radio station. They bring us popular, exciting items that exuded a style of their own. But the main point is the continuality of the whole show. No emcees to steal the limelight and repeat whatever we have read in the catalouge, no drawing of curtains which will waste time, no intervals which may kill the burning fire of dance. It was just like the continuing passion for dance, just...restless!
I love the finale. The first finale item was Toy Soldiers, where about twelve male dancers dressed up as those in the book very popular with children - Red suit, black long pants, black hat and white gloves. The gun was very unique, it glowed a neon orange colour for one side and plain black for the other side.
I guess the very first and last numbers were the most impactful dances. The whole dance troupe was mobilised onto stage, synchronizing in harmony and to the music. It was so energetic, so vibrant, so, high? Looking at them dance from downstage I just felt like dancing with them! haha. I think many others would agree too.
Overall this whole show had been a really successful one. Anyone could testify that all the hard work, sweat and tears have paid off for this one night. All I can say is that I regretted not attending Restless I last year.
Dance your life. Live your dance. I Hope You Dance.
